These are the Days of My Life - Rome Italy

You know you are blessed when you have breakfast with some treckers who have been to 10 cities in two weeks....talk about on the move.  Their best stories were bitching about all the bus/train dramas.  I only took one train (1st class sleeper overnight from Cairo to Luxor) and 1 8 hour bus trip from Cairo to Baharia...that was enough.  i like business class travel too much to rough it.  Rome is an American ghetto...if I hear anymore English spoken with the work "like" used every other word i may go postal on some Americans in Rome.  Talk about spoiling someones Roman Holiday.  I love to see the Americans sitting at the over priced (safe) hotel restaurants like the are experiencing the real local experience.  It makes me crazy and after a few more witty critiques i promise to stop American tourist bashing.  But wait just one more...when the sign says no photos, why is it that certain nationalities seem to think it does not apply to them..(American/Asian/German et al).  Ok I feel better and have gotten a little pent up frustration off my chest.

Today was a beautiful day or so it turned out.  Love Rome!  Spent the day with a mystery novel lounging near Trevi Fountain and then wandered up to the Spanish Steps and then further North to the Borghese Park.  Three lovely areas to spend a lovely afternoon in the sun and with a good book.  Ok an old James Patterson novel that I borrowed from my Hostel.  I tend to swap alot of reading material from country to country in those countries that have English language paperbacks.  I tried to read a German and another in Chinese but guess what i don't speak/read those languages.  Some days are just made for a good curl up with a book even when traveling.  If I was on the go non stop I would be exhausted or dead from the failure to complete my adventure based on lack of endurance.  It all goes back to my blessing of being able to take this trip at my pace and in my own stride.  So far i couldn't be more pleased with the experience.

The Borghese Park has about 50 amazing scultures on the grounds....No I only saw half of them it is a BIG park!

Even the turtles stacked 3 high are enjoying the sunshine.

Hard to tell in this pic but this street goes on and on and on and I walked and walked and walked .
