This is going to be a test of working offline. I will be saving I hope, a document to be uploaded at a later time to my blog. I have lost 3 rather lengthy diatribes. That although i like to talk, I daresay that retyping is not my forte. Much like I find in my traveling and my previous life at home. If I have been there done it, i don't fancy a return or repeat performance. I still have that I bore easily mentality. If I recognize a street that I have previously ventured down i continue on to the next just for the change of scenary. this is why I find the technology frustrations so annoying. I tend to want things the work correctly and there not to be any glitches that either I or someone I can call to fix is available. being out there on my own I have had the fascinating opportunity to just sit quietly and observe or get over myself and initiate conversations with folks.
I have to say that on my first few weeks in Sydney, AU I definitely was in my old shell of observer and not really comfortable chatting up the natives...not that I could find any. But human nature is a funny thing and given the opportunity to either help someone when they are lost, share your experience/expertise or just chat about the days doings good/bad/funny or sad just needs someone to kick start the conversation. I guess that is why I am here...cause I just love to kick start things...or so I have found. I am not so much the big conversationalist but I definitely seem to know how to get a crowd of strangers engaged in some charming conversation.
I have actually friended quite a few on Facebook so that we can stay in touch and a few have invited me to touch base once i get to their side of the world so we can get together for dinner/drink and catch up. What a Beautiful Life.
My first night at The Rocks YHA hostel I was awaiting my room assignment int he common area/lobby. i was in observation mode, not daring to talk to anyone as they were all in groups/pairs...one of the hazards of solo travel...you are always the outsider that these clumps of friends/spouses/families or other individuals are checking out as well. Well low and behold I heard that best sound in the world...an English speaker without any sort of accent...absolute plain English. I was so excited I jumped out of my chair and made a bee line directly to my first friend in Sydney, AU. Rob was from LA and in property management.
I have decided to upload all my pics to Facebook rather than attach them to the blog. Too time consuming to do both. So look at facebook for my pictures.
