What a great day touring the vineyards surrounding Capetown. We were a group of 11 from all different hotels/hostels and by the end of the day (wow, what a few wine tastings do to loosen up a group) we were all great friends. Four Wineries, 6-11 tastings (maybe 1-2 more) at each, cheeses (YUM), crackers, olives, spreads and a 5-star steak & frites lunch that was the surprise of the day. What better way along with an awesome tour guide to spend a very cheerful, educational, and really fun overcast/rainy day. Cheers

| Our fantastic, well educated (wine somilier) tour guide/driver for the day. He did almost all of the wine making/types/production and planting commentary which was a great addition to just the wine tasting experience. There is more to the tasting experience than just gulping wine...(swirl, breathe in the bouquet, airate in your mouth, swallow and exhale for the full experience). Who knew all that had to be done to get drunk? |
| Tasting room at our first vineyard. |
| Thia goat is the size or bigger than a Shetland pony and the horns were at least arm length spread long....not one that i would mess with even after a few libatios. |
| It was an overcast day to start, but the majestic beauty of Table Mountain in the distance always shines through. |
| The clouds hung low and made Table Mountain look like a volcano about to erupt. |
| Our second winery, note the increasing grin. This is where we were surprised with a 5-star lunch. Don't get that alot on a wine tour with out paying mucho dinero. Our 8 hour tour, inclusive was under $80US. |
| Our contemporary dining room for lunch build over the architectural remain of the original building site. Quite impressive. |
| Each better than the last and all contributed to the SMILES of the day! |
| Shoch and Awe at the delicious 5-star lunch that was included in the tour price. The wine glass covers the size of the steak was quite large and delicious at the point of our now slurring wine tour. just in time to absorb so that the afternoons continuance would be enjoyable. |
| 3rd stop of the day. |
| Yum, one of my favorites and I really am not a red wine drinker. Maybe I had it mistaken with the other 30 bottles I tried that day and this is just a nice pic?!?!?! |
| Jacque was or pourer for this tasting and he was a heavy handed kinda guy...Thanks Jacque! |
| This pic does not do justice to the size of these wine casks. |
| No it is not Monet...but just my photographic skill of catching the rain on the window looking out at the vineyard. Or is it just my blurry vision after having a few (yeah right) too many wine sips?? |
| Our final winery....Saved the best for last. |
| The previous winery had these paintings in the wine cask storage area...I took a few shots in case we had uncovered a trove of hidden treasures that I may have to one day disclose....ready a mystery novel with similar plot...that made an otherwise sterile environment rather interesting. |
| Our guide for the day showing off....the way real somilier would crack open a bottle of sparkling Champagne. |
| What a great day. Happy Birthday Debbie....lol (inside joke) |
