These are the days of My Life - Shanghai, China

Just another great day in Shanghai, China. Today was another beautiful weather day. Definately an overcast/smog alert day. As it is Sunday and a continuation of the Chinese May Day celebration it was a busy day on the streets. I went back tot he Bund and crossed the river via the Bund passenger tunnel. Ok it is a tram, and the tunnel uses black light/paint and lights to attempt to make a travel experience....it is yuan$45 round trip US$6.92. Next time I will take the bus. yuan$3 = US$0.46. No lines no crowds. Nanjing Road is a busy, ok crazy busy, like elbow to elbow busy pedestrian street. It is lined with Chinese stores selling all the necessary needs, clothes, jewelry, 7-eleven, MTR stops, more of the same. Only about every 12 steps there is that hawker guy trying to interest me in massage, t-shirts, watches....LEAVE ME ALONE!!!! Well I learned that there are more that one street that leads to the Bund. So over 1 block and of course there are only12 people on the whole deserted street. Which for manuverability and hawker avoidance it is awesome. Funny, how like sheep we are just following the crowd. I have discovered a whole new China...one block off the main road. I quess it was only a matter of time before the annoyance and fear as some of the female hawkers are real aggressive; finally lead me to not follow the norm. I quess it is only a matter of time before we all decide that the mainstream is not near as fun, exciting, educational, interesting, challenging or original as taking the one street over route.

I guess that being I took the one block over route it would be no surprise that the other side of the Bund is as different as the the other side of the street. I visited the business district and the financial mecca. The buildings on that side of the River are very interesting in thier architectual design.

View of the financial district from the Bund pedestrial walk.

China in full bloom

Another view of the fianancial district across the river.
I woul love to learn how to send a link to facebook of each days photos as the server is preventing me from attachin gpictures to my blog.  Maybe it's China, maybe it's Scott.  Operator error is my middle name.

If there are any techies reading along please feel free to advise the best way to upload pictures.  I will keep the blog going but the pictures need to be attached seperately as this process is very time consuming while traveling.  Enjoy!
