These are the days of My Life - Beijing, China, The Great Wall, Jansaling #2 pics

Each Tower tells a story of that part of the wall.  Unfortunately the signage is abused and usually in the shade inside the tower so hard to see. The towers were however the best places to rest on the climb/treck as the cool breezes and shade were always welcome.

Here comes the tricky part.  Of my bus of 35 tourist only 10 of us made it all the way to the end...Sematai.  This may have been the resoan why...the tourist areas of the wall are all maintained as you trexk further out the weather and age are definately apparent.  Watch you step!

What wall?  Some areas are missing not only the wall but the path is only more of a dirt trail until you get to the next section.  However as you can see the view is phenomenal.  Ona clear day which that day was it is just undescribable.

Tower rest break.  Watch out for falling stones.

Going Up!

Going Down!

Where is the escalator?

Money shot...Spectacular.  Well worth the trexk hands down.  As i said in Thialand, Buddha sits atop the highest peak for a reason....and it is not Location, Location, Location it is the view!!!

Just 10 more Towers to go and we reached the end of the line.....Wait then we have the return trip?  Hmmm...where is the cable car when you need one?

Yes, it is that steep..just put one foot in front of the other and repeat....1 million times....Easier said than done..

Single file as the other side is not renovated and the stones are loose and slipery smooth.  Saw one or two tourist make 9.8 from the East German judge for their graceful, yet painfull fall.

Really, quite a magnificent climb.  Note to slef look at Thasaurus for additional words that consistently get more difficult for walking, trecking, hiking, climbing, just short of repelling i draw the line.  But at places this adventure was straight UP!

The views are ALWAYS worth the effort.  No Pain ....No views.  Those that don't go the distance, don't reap the reward.

Wow, looking back...wait don't we have to go back the way we came?

Ok, somebody is behind on step repair on this section.  Oh yeah, there were no people on this section for areason....just a few of us brave souls ventured this far due to the hazardous conditions.

Oh just wait it gets better....Not....but the thrill was incredible to up there, the 3 of us alone on the farthest point of the Great Wall.  I hiked the distance with 2 other guys I met on the tour bus.  We said we were going to the end (Sematia) and back before lunch....and that we did.
